Uganda’s Jet Fresh Takes on Global Cargo Giants for GSSA of the Year

Ugandan cargo sales and service agent Jet Fresh Cargo has been shortlisted for GSSA of the Year at the 2026 Air Cargo News Awards in London, placing the Entebbe-based company alongside five international finalists. According to Nile Post, the award winner will be announced on October 21 at the Royal Lancaster London during the 42nd edition of the event. The other finalists are 4RCargo, ECS Group, FlyUs Aviation Group, Network Airline Services and Wexco Airfreight (UK).

The nomination highlights Jet Fresh’s role in handling temperature-sensitive Ugandan exports such as flowers, fish, fruit, vegetables and chilled meat. The company says it connects local producers to more than 90 destinations across the Middle East, Europe, Asia and North America. In the report, Jet Fresh CEO Wail Dagash said the recognition reflects the work of the company’s airline partners, customers, regulators and ground-handling partners, including Flynas Cargo, WCS, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and Menzies Cargo Entebbe.

Nile Post also quoted a Ugandan seafood exporter, Fresh Perch, which said it has relied on Jet Fresh for nearly two years to move chilled and frozen fish to overseas markets without quality problems. The company’s account illustrates why air cargo matters for Uganda’s export economy: speed and handling conditions can affect shelf life and commercial value.

More broadly, the shortlist gives a Ugandan company visibility in a field often dominated by larger global operators. Jet Fresh has operated in Uganda since 2023, building on experience from other markets, and the nomination may help draw attention to the country’s growing air freight sector and its push to expand agricultural exports.
