Uganda’s Business Titans Host Heritage Times Delegation Ahead of EAC Trade Summit

Watchdog Uganda reported that Ugandan business figures Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia and Hajji Hamis Kiggundu hosted a delegation from Heritage Times Africa in Kampala as Uganda prepares for the inaugural East African Trade and Digital Summit later this year. The delegation was led by Moses Siloko Siasia, chairman and CEO of Heritage Times, and held engagements with leaders in Uganda’s investment, energy and commercial sectors.

According to the report, the private meetings with Ruparelia, chairman of Ruparelia Group, and Kiggundu, founder of Ham Enterprises, centered on Uganda’s economic outlook, the country’s developing oil and gas industry, and possible cross-border opportunities within the East African Community. The discussions also covered infrastructure readiness, local content participation in the oil sector, digital transformation and ways to expand intra-regional trade and investment.

Watchdog Uganda said the private-sector engagements followed earlier government-level meetings in which the Heritage Times delegation was received by Rebecca Kadaga, Uganda’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Community Affairs. The report said Kadaga reaffirmed government support for hosting the summit, alongside ministers responsible for trade, industry and ICT.

The planned East African Trade and Digital Summit is being presented as a platform to bring together policymakers, investors and business leaders to promote regional economic cooperation and digital integration. The reported meetings matter because they signal Uganda’s effort to link public-sector summit preparations with private investment interests in infrastructure, energy, technology and EAC trade.
