Uganda: Police Surgeon Finds No Signs of Sodomy On Accused Persons in Kayanja Case

A police surgeon has testified in a long-running court case in Uganda involving seven young men accused of fabricating evidence against Rubaga Miracle Centre senior pastor Robert Kayanja. According to the report published by Nile Post and distributed by AllAfrica, the witness told the court that his examinations found no medical signs consistent with sodomy on any of the accused.

The doctor, identified as Dr. Phenehance Bwambale, said he examined the men’s anal regions at Masindi Main Prison and Nsambya Police Health Centre IV and found them to be normal, with intact sphincters and reflexes. During cross-examination in the case before Grade One Magistrate Adams Byarugaba, he also said he could not medically verify several details that had been recorded from the boys’ own accounts, including references to condoms and lubricant. He further said he could not link a reported “moving tail bone” in two of the accused to sodomy, noting that such a condition can have several causes.

The evidence was presented as part of the defence in the six-year-old case, which involves allegations that the accused and others tried to damage the pastor’s reputation. The court allowed more time for re-examination of the witness and adjourned the matter to October 1, 2026. The testimony was reported to bolster the prosecution’s position, though the case remains ongoing and no final determination was reported.
