Uganda: One Dead, Several Injured in Multiple Crashes On Kampala-Entebbe Expressway

What the report says
At least one person has died and several others were injured in a series of crashes on the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway in Uganda, according to reporting published by Nile Post and distributed by AllAfrica. The incidents prompted an emergency response on the Kajjansi-Busega section, with traffic police and expressway response teams helping evacuate the injured for medical care.
The fatal case involved a pedestrian who was hit near kilometre three of the road, close to a sharp bend, the report said. Uganda’s Works and Transport ministry spokesperson Allan Ssempebwa said the body was taken to Mulago Hospital Mortuary by police. The expressway management also said the injured victims were transferred for further attention.
The reported crashes have again drawn attention to safety risks on the expressway, where walking or crossing is prohibited. Management said it has recently warned nearby communities against using unauthorized access points, cutting the safety fence, or crossing the road. It also urged motorists to drive carefully, obey speed limits and stay alert, especially near bends and exit points.
Traffic in the affected area was moving slowly while emergency crews continued evacuation and response work. The incident underscores the challenge of keeping high-speed roads safe for both motorists and residents living nearby.
