Uganda Hosts Inaugural Africa Conference to Promote Events Tourism

What the report says
Uganda is using the inaugural Africa Destination Celebration Conference and Expo (ADCCE 2026) in Kampala to market itself as a destination for weddings, private celebrations and other events, in addition to its long-established wildlife tourism. The two-day gathering is taking place at Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo and is drawing event planners, wedding specialists, tourism operators and hospitality businesses from Africa and Europe.
According to Nile Post, the conference is being held under the theme “Africa Unveils Events in the Wild” and is intended to connect international planners with Ugandan venues, service providers and tourism attractions. The programme includes an exhibition, keynote speeches and panel discussions on destination marketing, customer care, service quality and global industry standards. Organisers say the event is designed to build partnerships that can help promote Uganda and other African destinations to clients around the world.
The report quotes several participants who welcomed the initiative, including representatives from Nigeria, France and the UK, who said Africa has strong potential for destination weddings and related events but needs greater visibility in international markets. A speaker from the International Congress and Convention Association also backed the effort as a way to strengthen Africa’s role in the meetings and events sector.
The article says the conference is supported by Uganda’s tourism ministry, the Uganda Tourism Board and private partners. It also notes that delegates are expected to take familiarisation trips to tourism sites, including national parks, to help them consider Uganda for future event packages.
