Uganda Forward Fauzia Najjemba Ruled Out for Season After Serious Injury

What the report says
Nile Post reported that Uganda women’s national team forward Fauzia Najjemba will miss the rest of the 2026 National Women’s Soccer League season after sustaining a serious injury during training with Boston Legacy FC. The club said the 22-year-old suffered a rupture of the right rectus femoris tendon in a July 9 team session and has been moved to the Season-Ending Injury List.
According to the report, Boston Legacy FC announced that Najjemba will undergo regular rehabilitation reviews, with biweekly re-evaluations by Dr. Kelly McInnis of Massachusetts General Brigham. The club indicated that she is expected to recover fully, but the injury ends her first campaign in the United States earlier than planned.
Najjemba joined Boston Legacy FC in January on a two-year deal, with an option for an additional year, after spells connected to Kampala Queens FC and Isra Soccer Academy. Nile Post described the move to the NWSL expansion side as an important step for one of Uganda’s leading women footballers.
Her absence is significant for both Boston Legacy and Uganda’s Crested Cranes, where she has become an important attacking option. While the article frames the injury as a setback, it also notes the club’s positive medical outlook, leaving open the possibility of her returning to competitive football after rehabilitation.
