Uganda eyes global events market

What the report says
Uganda is trying to position itself as a destination for international weddings, celebrations and conferences after hosting the first Africa Destination Celebration Conference and Expo (ADCCE 2026), according to The Observer. The event was presented as a platform to link global event planners with Ugandan venues, hospitality providers, tourism operators and service companies, with the broader aim of promoting the country as a competitive events market.
The two-day conference took place on October 12-13 at Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, Kampala. It brought together event planners, wedding specialists, tourism stakeholders and international delegates under the theme “Africa Unveils Events in the Wild.” Delegates reportedly came from countries including France, Spain, Nigeria and the United Kingdom to share ideas, explore business opportunities and discuss how Africa can strengthen its role in the global events industry.
Jacqueline Nanteza, chief executive officer of Stress-Free Planner and Wild Celebrations Africa Limited, and founder and president of ADCCE, said the initiative was designed to attract planners from across Africa and beyond to discover and promote destinations, starting with Uganda. The article also says the ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, the Uganda Tourism Board and private-sector partners supported the conference. Exhibitions and panel sessions focused on customer care, industry standards, service excellence and ways to draw more international clients.
