Uganda Development Bank commissions new-look modern head office

What the report says
Uganda Development Bank (UDB) has commissioned UDB Tower, its new 14-storey head office on Plot 22, Hannington Road in Kampala, according to The Independent Uganda. The bank said the purpose-built facility marks a significant step in its institutional growth and in its work as Uganda’s national development finance institution. The event was officiated by Finance Minister Henry Musasizi and UDB shareholders.
The report says the new building is meant to bring UDB’s head-office functions into one integrated space to improve efficiency, collaboration, innovation and service delivery. UDB Board Chairman Geoffrey T. Kihuguru described the tower as part of the bank’s long-term capacity to mobilize capital and support investments of national importance. Managing Director Dr. Patricia Ojangole said the new home reflects the bank’s broader transformation and provides a stronger base for staff, operations and partnerships.
The Independent Uganda reported that UDB Tower covers about 7,806 square metres across 14 floors, including two basement levels. It includes customer-service areas, meeting and training rooms, an innovation room, boardroom and ICT systems. The building also features energy-saving and environmentally conscious design elements, including solar power, efficient lighting and air-conditioning controls, and natural ventilation where possible.
The commissioning matters because UDB plays a central role in financing development priorities such as productive investment and long-term economic transformation. In general, development finance institutions often use such facilities to support larger operational needs as their mandates expand, though specific future impacts will depend on how the bank uses the new office.
