Uganda Airlines launches direct flights between Entebbe, Ghana’s Accra

What the report says
Uganda Airlines has begun scheduled direct flights between Entebbe and Accra, opening a new air corridor between East and West Africa, according to The Independent Uganda citing Xinhua. The carrier says the route is intended to support trade, tourism and investment by making travel between the Ugandan and Ghanaian capitals easier.
The service will run four times a week and is meant to give passengers additional connection options through Uganda Airlines’ wider network. The report says the inaugural flight was flagged off on Tuesday, with Uganda’s Minister of Works and Transport Fred Byamukama describing the link as a way to boost business engagement, tourism and people-to-people ties.
Byamukama also pointed to Ghana’s visa-free entry policy for holders of Ugandan passports, saying better air access should be matched by policies that ease cross-border movement. His comments linked the launch to broader African integration efforts, including the Single African Air Transport Market and the African Continental Free Trade Area.
The article adds that Uganda Airlines currently flies to several African cities and destinations including Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Juba, Johannesburg, Lagos and Abuja, as well as Dubai, Mumbai and London. It also notes that Uganda has placed an order for eight Boeing aircraft and is seeking more freighter planes to expand cargo operations.
