UEFA asks US court for FIFA documents for criminal case against Infantino

UEFA has asked a US federal court in Florida for permission to obtain testimony and documents from two FIFA-related entities, saying the material could support a planned criminal complaint in Switzerland against FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The request was filed under US law as part of UEFA’s effort to gather evidence tied to a now-abandoned proposal involving the transfer of commercial rights linked to the men’s and women’s World Cups and the Club World Cup.

According to the court filing cited by Al Jazeera, UEFA is considering criminal proceedings against Infantino and possibly other FIFA officials and advisers over the plan to move those rights into a new subsidiary called FIFA Forward Enterprise. UEFA alleges the idea was developed privately with a small circle of advisers and investors and that normal FIFA governance channels were not followed.

The filing seeks discovery from FIFA (AMERICAS), Inc. and FWC2026 US, Inc., both based in Florida. UEFA said those organisations may hold documents and witness information about how the transaction was conceived, structured, valued and approved.

The report said the potential Swiss complaint would center on alleged criminal mismanagement under Article 158 of the Swiss Criminal Code. More broadly, the case reflects the continuing scrutiny around Infantino’s leadership and FIFA’s handling of commercial rights related to major international tournaments.
