UCE: UNEB extends History exam time by 15 minutes

What the report says
The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has extended the time for the History and Political Education paper in the ongoing 2026 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams by 15 minutes, according to The Observer. The board informed secondary school head teachers through a circular and asked examination centres to promptly tell invigilators and candidates about the change.
The revised duration for paper 141/1 History and Political Education is now 2 hours and 30 minutes, up from 2 hours and 15 minutes. The article says the paper is set for the afternoon session on the second day of the exams, after English Language in the morning, and that the earlier timetable matched last year’s allocation. UNEB had not given a reason for the adjustment by the time of publication.
The report also says the second day of the UCE exams went smoothly in several parts of Uganda. Officials in places including Oyam, Kumi, Bukedea, Arua and West Nile reported timely delivery of materials, quick handling of an answer-booklet packaging issue, and generally calm conditions despite rain in some areas. In Bukedea, district officials said schools were being urged to allow candidates to sit exams even if fees were outstanding. This broader context suggests UNEB was managing both scheduling and logistics as the national examinations continued.
