MMA Fighting reported that Tyson Fury weighed 265 pounds on Thursday ahead of his heavyweight bout with Mariusz Wach in Pattaya, Thailand, making Fury the lighter man on the scale for the first time in 15 years. Wach, a Polish veteran, came in at 291.4 pounds for the scheduled Friday fight, more than 26 pounds above Fury’s weight.

The report noted that the last comparable instance was Fury’s first meeting with Derek Chisora in 2011, when Fury weighed 255.5 pounds and Chisora was 261. The 6-foot-9 British heavyweight is more often the larger fighter, adding a point of interest to a matchup being framed as part of his effort to stay active.

According to MMA Fighting, Fury’s fight with Wach is expected to function as a tune-up before a possible long-discussed bout with Anthony Joshua. Joshua is also scheduled to fight this weekend, facing Kristian Prenga on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. No confirmed date or location has been announced for a Fury-Joshua meeting.

Fury returned from his latest retirement earlier in 2026 and defeated Arslanbek Makhmudov by unanimous decision in April, improving his record to 35-2-1, per the report. MMA Fighting also said the Wach bout is not set for live broadcast through traditional or streaming outlets, but is expected to air later as part of Fury’s Netflix reality series, “At Home with the Furys.”
