Two Sons Held Over Beheading of 95-Year-Old Mother in Kagadi

Police in Kagadi District, western Uganda, are investigating the suspected murder of 95-year-old Angela Kabagenzi after her body was found in a sugarcane plantation near her home, with her head missing. The Nile Post reported that Kabagenzi, a resident of Matuntu A Village, had been reported missing on the night of September 4, 2026, and her body was discovered the following morning about 300 metres from the house.

According to the article, officers responded to the scene with a sniffer dog after being alerted to the discovery. Police said the dog followed a scent trail from the plantation to the home of Peter Biija, identified as one of Kabagenzi’s sons, and then to the home of another son, Isingoma. The two men were arrested to assist with the inquiry.

Police also said Isingoma later guided investigators and residents to a place where the missing head was reportedly buried. Both suspects remain in custody as authorities work to determine the circumstances of the killing and identify who was responsible. The case has drawn attention because it involves a suspected violent death of an elderly woman and because investigators are relying on field evidence and witness leads to piece together what happened.
