Two Children Killed, Three Injured in Kabalagala House Attack

What the report says
Police in Kampala are investigating a violent early-morning incident in Kabalagala, in which two children were killed, three others were injured and a vehicle was set on fire. The report from Nile Post says the attack happened around 4 a.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2026, in Kalungu Bunga, Ggaba Parish, within Makindye Division.
According to police statements cited by the publication, a housemaid heard an alarm and children crying from the main house. When she checked, she found several children badly injured and raised the alarm. Police later said 14-year-old Daizy Khadija died in her bedroom, while seven-year-old Dalena Hawa died after being taken to Nsambya Hospital. Three other children, aged 13, eight and five, survived and were hospitalized.
The suspect identified by police is Dorothy Namayo, a 43-year-old Kenyan national and the mother of the victims. Nile Post reports that she was also injured and is under police guard at Mulago National Referral Hospital. Investigators are treating the case as murder, attempted murder and arson. A Toyota Hiace at the premises was burned, and officers recovered a jerrycan suspected to have contained petrol.
Police homicide teams, forensic officers and fire responders examined the scene, while witness statements were collected. The case is significant because it involves the death of children in a domestic setting and is now being pursued as a multi-offence criminal investigation.
