MLB Trade Rumors reported that the Minnesota Twins made a series of pitching roster moves on July 26, activating left-hander Connor Prielipp and right-hander Cole Sands from the 15-day injured list. The report, citing Aaron Gleeman of AaronGleeman.com, said Minnesota also optioned Jack Anderson to Triple-A St. Paul and put right-hander Mike Paredes on the 15-day IL because of an oblique strain.

Prielipp had been sidelined since July 9 with a blister on his left middle finger and is expected to return to the back end of the rotation. MLB Trade Rumors noted that he has a 5.00 ERA over 66 2/3 innings and 13 starts, though some underlying indicators are stronger, including a 4.24 expected ERA, 3.98 SIERA and a 24.1% strikeout rate. The outlet added context that Prielipp has remained in the rotation after Mick Abel’s elbow injury, which ultimately required surgery and ended Abel’s season.

Sands returns to the bullpen after missing roughly three months with a right forearm strain. According to the report, he had a 4.63 ERA in 12 appearances before going on the IL, later restarting a rehab assignment this month and throwing seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts. He is expected to work in middle relief.

Paredes, 25, had been scheduled to start the previous day but was scratched after the oblique issue surfaced during warmups. MLB Trade Rumors reported that his timetable is not yet known and that further testing was expected. The roster shuffle comes with Minnesota at 52-54 and still close to the American League Wild Card race ahead of the trade deadline.
