Trump will welcome the World Series champion Dodgers to the White House - AP News
What the report says
The Associated Press reported that President Donald Trump hosted the Los Angeles Dodgers at the White House on Thursday, July 23, 2026, honoring the club’s 2025 World Series championship in a Rose Garden ceremony in Washington. Trump praised the franchise as “one of the great brands anywhere in the world” and welcomed the team back after its second straight title.
The event followed the Dodgers’ Game 7 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays the previous fall, AP reported. Trump noted that the series had been hard-fought and said he was surprised to learn the Dodgers had not previously won back-to-back championships. He also floated the possibility of another White House visit if the team wins a third consecutive title.
Among those highlighted were Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. AP said Trump showed particular interest in meeting Ohtani and compared the two-way star to Babe Ruth. Photos and reporting from the event also showed Dodgers owner Mark Walter present, Trump holding a Dodgers jersey, and the team presenting him with a jersey marked “Trump 47” and what appeared to be a replica championship ring.
The visit continued the customary White House recognition of major U.S. sports champions. AP noted that Trump had also hosted the Dodgers in April 2025 in the East Room after their 2024 World Series win over the New York Yankees, making this the team’s second annual championship visit during his current term.
