Trump praised the franchise as “one of the great brands anywhere in the world” and welcomed the team back after its second straight title.

The event followed the Dodgers’ Game 7 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays the previous fall, AP reported. Trump noted that the series had been hard-fought and said he was surprised to learn the Dodgers had not previously won back-to-back championships. He also floated the possibility of another White House visit if the team wins a third consecutive title.

Among those highlighted were Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman. AP said Trump showed particular interest in meeting Ohtani and compared the two-way star to Babe Ruth.
