The Associated Press reported from Dubai that the U.S. military carried out another night of strikes on Iran as President Donald Trump escalated threats over attacks in the Strait of Hormuz. According to AP, Trump said Wednesday that if Iran fires on a ship in the strait, the United States would respond by destroying a bridge or power plant, signaling an explicit willingness to hit civilian infrastructure.

U.S. Central Command said the latest operations were meant to weaken Iran’s ability to endanger commercial and civilian vessels in regional waters, AP reported. The strikes were described as the 12th night of U.S. attacks, with Washington seeking to regain control of the Strait of Hormuz and restore international shipping through the waterway. AP framed the development as part of a widening conflict in which both sides are increasingly threatening civilian infrastructure.

Trump also said the U.S. would soon target an area near Kuh-e Kolang Gaz La, known as “Pickaxe Mountain,” an underground site south of Iran’s Natanz nuclear enrichment facility. AP noted that Natanz was bombed by the U.S. during Operation Midnight Hammer in 2025’s 12-day Iran-Israel war, while the Pickaxe Mountain site has not been hit and Iran has continued digging there.

The escalation came as Trump traveled to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for the dignified transfer of four U.S. service members killed in the Middle East. AP also reported that regional attacks were overshadowing diplomatic efforts in Pakistan to revive an interim ceasefire deal that had collapsed.
