Fox News reported that President Donald Trump paid tribute Wednesday to Army 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan during remarks at Wheeler High School in Marietta, Georgia, after earlier attending a dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. Trump said he met Feehan’s parents, Shari and Stephen, and his uncle David at Dover, then invited them to travel with him to Georgia aboard Air Force One when he learned they were headed there as well.

According to Fox, Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, was one of four U.S. service members killed in Jordan while supporting a U.S. mission. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Fox also identified Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas, among those killed, and said U.S. Central Command announced the deaths Saturday.

During the Georgia event, Trump described dignified transfers as among the hardest duties of the presidency and said he reads biographies of fallen service members before attending them. He praised Feehan as a promising young officer and addressed the family from the stage as the audience applauded.

Fox reported that Trump’s Georgia appearance was also meant to promote his administration’s “Trump Accounts” initiative, which he described as a way to help families build long-term savings for children. The tribute placed the policy event alongside a public moment of mourning for a service member killed overseas.
