Tropical Storm Bertha tracker: Storm makes landfall in Louisiana, bringing heavy rain and a flash flood threat to the northwestern Gulf Coast - Yahoo

What the report says
Yahoo Entertainment reported that Tropical Storm Bertha has weakened and dissipated into a trough of low pressure after moving inland, with the National Hurricane Center issuing its final advisory on the system. As of 5 p.m. ET Thursday, the remnants were about 40 miles west-northwest of Houston, Texas, moving west at 14 mph, with maximum sustained winds down to 35 mph and stronger gusts possible.
Although Bertha is no longer a tropical storm, Yahoo reported that its leftover moisture was still affecting Texas. Forecasters expected 1 to 3 inches of rain across parts of South Texas overnight, with isolated amounts up to 4 inches. That rainfall could cause localized flash flooding, particularly in urban areas. No tropical storm watches or warnings remained in effect.
Coastal impacts were also expected to linger for a short period. Yahoo cited forecasters saying water levels along the Louisiana and Texas coasts could stay elevated through the next high tide cycle before easing. Swells from Bertha’s remnants were also expected to continue affecting those coastlines through Thursday night.
Bertha was the second named storm of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season, following Tropical Storm Arthur, which Yahoo said brought heavy rain and flash flooding to parts of southern Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi last month. The season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. According to the report, NOAA forecasters expect a below-normal Atlantic season, with eight to 14 named storms, including three to six hurricanes and one to three major hurricanes.
