What the report says

Forbes reported that premium audio companies Trinnov and Ascendo have announced a new evolution of their Cylindrical WaveForming technology, a home cinema bass system they first introduced in 2025. The companies plan to demonstrate the updated approach at Audio Advice Live 2026 in Raleigh, North Carolina, after their 2025 demonstration won an eCoustic award for Best Bass Response.

The technology is aimed at a persistent issue in high-end home theaters: uneven low-frequency sound caused by standing waves, especially in relatively square rooms. Rather than only using calibration to correct bass problems after they occur, Trinnov and Ascendo say their method is designed to reduce the formation of those waves. The setup uses a floor-level subwoofer array at the front of a room, paired with strategically placed rear subwoofers, and is managed through Trinnov’s room optimization processing.

Forbes said the 2026 demonstration will use Trinnov’s AltitudeCI audio processor, Amplitude 16 amplifier and Dante interface with an Ascendo immersive speaker system. In a 25-by-25-by-8-foot room at the Sheraton Hotel, the demo will include four Ascendo THE18 Sub Passive Vented subwoofers along the front wall and two at the rear. Ascendo’s THE32 infra sub will handle very low infrasonic frequencies, while 13 coaxial point-source cinema speakers are intended to support a surround field for multiple listeners.

The companies are positioning the system as a way to improve bass consistency, transient accuracy and seat-to-seat uniformity while reducing the architectural complexity associated with some traditional home theater bass designs. Forbes also noted the demonstration will include a Christie 4K laser projector and a 135-inch Stewart screen.
