Trailing 8-0 & down to six players - abandoned game labelled a 'farce'

What the report says
A Hampshire Premier League Division One match between Andover Town and Paulsgrove was abandoned on Saturday after Paulsgrove were reduced to six players while trailing 8-0. Under the laws of football, a game cannot continue if a side has fewer than seven players. BBC Sport reported that Andover had led 7-0 at half-time, then scored again early in the second half before the match was called off.
Andover manager Robbie Skeates described the incident as “a complete farce” and said he had never seen an opposing team situation like it in his time in football. He said all 11 Paulsgrove players returned for the second half, but four later did not continue, and another player then came off injured after Andover’s eighth goal. Skeates said Andover would file a report to the league.
The Hampshire Premier Football League said it was investigating, describing that as standard procedure after an abandoned game. BBC Sport also noted that social media posts appearing to come from Paulsgrove’s account suggested the abandonment was due to injuries, though the league has not yet commented on any findings. The result matters because both clubs are in the lower tiers of English non-league football: Andover are mid-table, while Paulsgrove are bottom of the division after a difficult start to the season.
