Tororo Rotary Club joins Cancer Run, raises support for Cancer Institute

The Tororo Sam-Owori Rotary Club has taken part in Uganda’s annual Cancer Run, using the event to raise money and public awareness in support of the Uganda Cancer Institute at Nsambya Hospital. According to Nile Post, the wider Rotary-backed campaign is seeking more than Shs6 billion to help complete the facility, which is intended to strengthen cancer services in the country.

In Tororo, the run began at the Tororo Municipal Council grounds and followed a five-kilometre route through town. The event drew hundreds of participants, including community members, health workers, local leaders and other stakeholders. Club president Joel Wabulo said the group had set out to sell 400 Cancer Run kits but exceeded that target by selling 600, indicating strong local support for the fundraising effort.
