What the report says

Watchdog Uganda published a ranked list of 20 communications professionals it says are shaping Uganda’s public narrative in 2026, highlighting figures working across government, corporate, agency, media and development sectors. The piece frames the field as increasingly important as reputation management, stakeholder engagement and public messaging become more complex in Uganda.

At the top of the list is Henry Rugamba of Songa Communications, described by the publisher as a long-serving public relations veteran and board chair at Equity Bank Uganda. Other prominent names include Faruk Kirunda at State House, Kenneth Agutamba of Stanbic Bank Uganda, Irene Nakasiita of the Public Relations Association of Uganda and Uganda Red Cross Society, and John Chihi of Media Age PR EA. The ranking also features communicators in key public institutions such as the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Works and Transport, the National Medical Stores, the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority and the Uganda National Council for Science and Technology.

The article also spotlights private-sector and agency leaders including Ian Rumanyika, Sarah Kagingo, Joseph Kanyamunyu, Jackie Tahakanizibwa, Samuel Apedel and others. Watchdog Uganda says its selection is based on visible leadership roles, industry recognition, institutional impact and professional track records as of October 2026.

The list is presented as a snapshot of a dynamic profession rather than a final or exhaustive ranking. It also notes that many other practitioners contribute to communications work across Uganda, which suggests the sector remains broad and competitive.
