Tooro Kingdom begins 9-day mourning for King Oyo

The Tooro Kingdom in western Uganda has begun a nine-day period of traditional mourning after the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, according to The Independent Uganda. The king died on Thursday evening in the United States, where he had been receiving medical treatment. The mourning period, known as okugaragara, started on Friday after a formal announcement by the head of the royal clan.
