Tooro formally notifies President Museveni of King Oyo’s death

Tooro Kingdom has formally informed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni of the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, according to The Observer. The kingdom said the monarch died while receiving medical treatment in the United States. Its message to Museveni described him as a guardian, father and friend of the late king, reflecting a relationship that the kingdom said stretched back to Oyo’s childhood.

The notification was signed by Tooro Kingdom prime minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki. The article says Museveni was among the senior figures entrusted with the young king’s care after Oyo became Omukama in 1995, when he was only three years old. Other guardians named at the time included Queen Mother Best Kemigisa, Princess Elizabeth Bagaaya and Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.
