The agreement reduced earlier DUI accusations, and a judge ordered Woods’ driving licence suspended for five years.

Woods appeared in Martin County court on Wednesday and entered the plea after initially facing a driving under the influence charge. Al Jazeera reported that he said little during the hearing. He was accompanied to court by his girlfriend, Vanessa Trump, who sat behind him during the proceedings.

The case arose after Woods’ SUV clipped a truck, rolled onto its side, and caused damage reported at about $5,000. No one was injured. Court and police accounts cited in the report say deputies found pain pills in his pocket and noted signs of impairment, while a breath test was negative and he declined a urine test. Woods had previously told an officer he was looking at his phone and adjusting the radio when the crash occurred.

The episode adds to a long period of off-course disruptions for the 50-year-old golfer, whose career has been affected by injuries, crashes and treatment for pain medication dependence.
