Three killed as Russia launches fresh aerial attacks across Ukraine

At least three people were killed and more than 10 injured in a new round of Russian air attacks on Ukraine, according to officials cited by BBC World News. The strikes hit multiple areas overnight, including Kyiv, where firefighters were working at the scene of a market fire after missiles and drones struck the capital. Ukrainian authorities said they intercepted three missiles and nearly 100 drones.

In southern Ukraine, regional officials in Zaporizhzhia said two people were killed when a guided aerial bomb destroyed a house. In the Dnipropetrovsk region, local officials reported one death and 14 injuries. Kyiv’s mayor, Vitali Klitschko, said air-raid sirens had sounded repeatedly since Saturday night and that at least six people, including a child, were injured in the capital.

Russia also reported damage from Ukrainian drone attacks on Moscow and nearby areas. Moscow’s mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, said about 600 Ukrainian drones were launched at the city and that three people were injured. He said a warehouse belonging to the online retailer Wildberries was hit in Koledino, outside Moscow. The company has been targeted before, and Ukraine has said such strikes are aimed at logistics sites used to disrupt military supplies.

The BBC also reported that Romania said a Spanish fighter jet shot down a drone that entered its airspace near the border with Ukraine and Moldova, underlining the wider regional spillover from the war.
