Three arrested for impersonating police officers in Entebbe robbery attempt

Police in Entebbe have arrested three men accused of posing as officers and trying to rob a foreign investor using suspected forged police identification. According to Nile Post, the incident happened on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at an apartment in Division A, Entebbe Municipality, where the suspects allegedly entered in civilian clothes and claimed they were conducting an official investigation.

The men are identified as Osire John Pius, Girengero Pius and Emogu Julius. Police said they demanded the investor’s passport and an unspecified sum of money while questioning him. The situation was interrupted after an employee at the apartment became suspicious and alerted officers from the Counter-Terrorism Tourism Unit, who moved in and arrested the suspects before they could leave.

A search reportedly recovered two suspected forged police warrant cards. The suspects are being held at Entebbe Police Station as investigations continue, and police said they will be processed under the law. The force also said preliminary inquiries link the men to at least two similar incidents involving foreign nationals in Entebbe, including alleged robberies of tourists in Manyago and an apparent targeting of Indian nationals in Kitooro.
