Three Arrested After Two Motorcycles Stolen from Kassanda Home Recovered

Nile Post reported that police in the Wamala Region arrested three people after two motorcycles allegedly stolen from a home in Kassanda District were recovered in Wakiso District. According to the report, the theft happened on the night of July 24, 2026, at the home of Benedicto Sentamu, 50, in Kawungera LC I, Kawungera Parish, Kiganda Town Council.

Police said the suspects gained access to the garage by drilling through a wall, then took a red Bajaj Boxer registered as UGE 680G and another motorcycle registered as UMA 661LZ. The matter was reported to Kiganda Police Station, after which detectives examined the scene, took statements from the complainant and witnesses, and reviewed national CCTV surveillance footage.

Wamala Regional Police spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi said the CCTV review helped investigators follow the trail of the motorcycles to Kyengera Town Council in Wakiso District. Nile Post named the arrested suspects as James Ssebuggwawo, 50, of Nakiganda LC I in Kassanda; Edward Kavuma, 31, a casual labourer from Kiyunga in Mukono District; and Yawe Musisi, 32, a boda boda rider from Nsangi in Wakiso District.

The suspects and the recovered motorcycles were taken back to Kiganda Police Station, where police said further inquiries were continuing. Investigators are expected to complete the file and submit it to the Resident State Attorney in Kassanda for advice on possible charges, including housebreaking and motorcycle theft. The case also highlights police reliance on CCTV surveillance in tracing stolen property, while authorities said they are still checking whether other people were involved.
