What the report says

Ugandan musician Douglas Mayanja, known as Weasel Manizo, has publicly cautioned singer Kid Fox after Kid Fox’s return to Uganda following years abroad. In comments made during a recent TikTok livestream, Weasel said the local entertainment scene has changed and urged the returning artist to be careful in media interviews and to avoid speaking disrespectfully about established figures in the industry.

According to Sqoop Uganda, the warning followed recent media appearances in which Kid Fox allegedly criticized or downplayed several well-known names in Uganda’s music and entertainment circles. Weasel framed his remarks as advice from someone with a long relationship to Kid Fox, stressing that artists who remained in the country helped build the industry and now occupy stronger social and financial positions than before.

Weasel also singled out Bobi Wine, the opposition National Unity Platform leader and former musician, saying Kid Fox should avoid taking aim at him. He said Bobi Wine is in a separate category from ordinary industry disputes. The article noted that Weasel, who is aligned with the ruling National Resistance Movement, still described Bobi Wine as an influential figure whose legacy should be recognized.

The exchange reflects ongoing tensions in Uganda’s entertainment scene, where public comments, political loyalties and past reputations can quickly shape industry debates. Sqoop Uganda presented Weasel’s remarks as a call for respect rather than confrontation.
