What the report says

Oscar Ntambi’s 2026 rally season ended with a career milestone, as the Ugandan driver was crowned Africa Rally Championship 2 (ARC2) champion after a year of results across Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania. The Independent Uganda reported that Ntambi, driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, finished the ARC2 standings on 69 points, seven ahead of Rwanda’s Christian Kanangire.

His season began with a standout performance at the WRC Safari Rally Kenya, where he made his World Rally Championship debut and won the ARC2 category despite mechanical issues. The article said he completed the demanding event with co-driver Uthumaan Muhamadi and finished 22nd overall. That result gave him an early boost in the continental championship and highlighted his ability to cope with difficult conditions.

Ntambi then retired from the Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally, but recovered at the Mountain Gorilla Rally in Rwanda, where he placed second in ARC2 with Pius Luggya as co-driver. He later secured the title at the Serengeti Rally in Tanzania, held from 2 to 4 October 2026. The Independent Uganda also noted that KCB Bank supported Ntambi’s Safari Rally campaign and broader Ugandan motorsport through sponsorship and a partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda.

The feature presents Ntambi’s title as significant not only for the points haul but for the experience gained in top-level rallying. It also underlines the growing impact of private-sector backing on Ugandan motorsport and the opportunities it can create for drivers competing beyond the domestic circuit.
