The Last Gal set to headline first solo rave at Guvnor

What the report says
Kampala’s nightlife scene is preparing for an electronic-music event on October 2, when DJ and entertainer The Last Gal will headline her first solo rave at Guvnor Street. According to The Observer, the show is framed as a milestone for the performer, whose real name is Kanyunyuzi Rachel Heyzo, as she moves from building her reputation behind the decks to hosting a full night centered on her sound.
The line-up is set to include a mix of established and emerging acts, among them DJ Roja, Slick Stuart, Selector Jay, DJ Lito, DJ Jose, Fem DJ, DJ Mercy and Sir Aludah, alongside MCs Izzy the Business, Saint Trevor, Hanz MC and Morgan MC. The event is being positioned around electronic music, with house and garage identified as key parts of The Last Gal’s style.
The Observer reports that her DJ journey began in 2022, after training at Gong Academy under Derrick Files. She later paused performing in 2023 to focus on studies before returning to Uganda in February 2024 and resuming her music path. In Kampala’s club scene, where Afrobeats, dancehall and Amapiano remain widely popular, the rave gives her a chance to showcase a less common electronic direction to a broader audience.
Organisers are also обещending a festival-like atmosphere with lighting and audiovisual production. More broadly, the event highlights the growing space for electronic music in a nightlife market that is often dominated by other genres.
