What the report says

dfcu Bank has published its inaugural Report to Society 2025, a disclosure event held at Serena Kigo in Kampala on October 27 and covered by The Independent Uganda. The report is framed as an effort to show the bank’s wider economic, social and environmental impact, beyond traditional profit reporting, and to make its contribution more measurable and open to public scrutiny.

According to the publisher, the bank said it financed 6,527 small and medium-sized enterprises in 2025, supported more than 80,000 women entrepreneurs and reached over 25,000 people through community health interventions. It also reported 62,000 trees planted or distributed during the year. The publication further cited Shs 38.08 billion in financing facilitated through dfcu Foundation and a Shs 1 billion commitment, over three years, to preventive healthcare in partnership with Rotary Uganda.

The report places emphasis on enterprise development, women’s economic participation, community health and environmental conservation. dfcu Foundation said it has supported more than 4,000 enterprises since 2018 and aims to reach more beneficiaries in the coming years, while the bank’s Women in Business programme remains a central part of its outreach.

The Independent Uganda notes that the numbers are activity indicators rather than proof of long-term impact, and that future results will depend on whether the initiatives improve business growth, jobs, healthcare access and environmental outcomes. The launch also reflected the sustainability theme, including the use of glass water bottles instead of plastic at the event.
