Electrek reports that Tesla has begun rolling out its 2026 Summer Update, with the company publishing release notes on X. The update adds broader Grok voice-assistant controls, changes to navigation, new Caraoke scoring and several functions that can now be managed through Tesla’s mobile app. Electrek’s Fred Lambert reported the rollout on July 21, noting that Tesla typically distributes software updates in waves, meaning availability may vary by vehicle and could take weeks.

According to Electrek, Grok can now handle more in-car commands, including making phone calls, searching and playing music, adjusting climate settings, opening the glovebox and answering Tesla-related questions. The report says this follows earlier Grok additions, including its initial arrival in 2025 and a “Hey Grok” wake word in Tesla’s 2026 Spring Update. The update also brings self-driving statistics into the mobile app, allowing owners to view and share mileage figures, streaks and monthly totals.

Navigation is another focus of the release. Electrek says Automatic Navigation can now learn recurring destinations beyond Home, Work and calendar events, such as routine school, gym or commute stops. Tesla vehicles can also prioritize routes the driver has used before, and owners can set desired arrival battery energy from the mobile app before starting a trip.

Other reported changes include Caraoke scoring while the vehicle is in Park, saved high scores tied to a Tesla profile, mobile uploading for custom vehicle wraps, a rear display lock controlled from the front row, Supercharger search by name, Apple Music queue additions, browser camera and microphone support, preferred zoom for self-driving visualization and intro animations for newer Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
