Not a Tesla App reported that Tesla’s Summer 2026 Software Update, version 2026.26, began reaching customer vehicles worldwide over the weekend after being announced the previous week. The July 28 report describes the release as a broad mid-year feature drop, adding vehicle controls, navigation changes, entertainment updates and interface refinements across supported models.

Among the most notable additions, the site said Tesla is expanding Grok voice functionality beyond web-style queries, allowing drivers to use conversational commands for tasks such as phone calls, music, climate adjustments, opening the glovebox and changing certain driving settings. The update also enables supported AMD-powered vehicles to use the in-car browser for video calls through services with web media support, such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet and Discord, by granting access to the cabin camera and microphone.

The release also includes a redesigned Caraoke app with live scoring while parked, custom digital vehicle wraps uploaded through the Tesla mobile app, and new entry animations for 2024-and-newer Model 3 and refreshed Model Y vehicles. Navigation changes include learned preferred routes, broader automatic destination suggestions based on routines, a more visible Add Stop button, and improved Supercharger search by station or location name.

Other reported changes include a rear-display touch lock that keeps content visible while preventing rear passengers from changing controls, plus interactive tutorials for Grok features and manual door-release safety guidance. The update matters because Tesla vehicles depend heavily on software for both driving-related functions and cabin experience, making over-the-air releases a continuing part of ownership rather than a one-time product configuration.
