Tesla's 2026.26 Summer Update Lets You Video Conference on Google Meet, Teams & Discord - Not a Tesla App

What the report says
Not a Tesla App reports that Tesla’s Summer 2026 software release, version 2026.26, adds browser access to a vehicle’s cabin camera and interior microphone, enabling video calls through web-based services such as Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Discord, X Spaces and Zoom. The outlet said the update began rolling out over the weekend after Tesla previewed the broader feature drop the prior week.
According to the report, Tesla is not building separate native apps for each conferencing platform. Instead, when a website opened in the in-car browser requests camera or microphone use, the vehicle displays a permission prompt letting the user deny access, allow it temporarily or grant ongoing access. Once enabled, the cabin camera feed is cropped and zoomed to frame the driver, while call audio can be muted or unmuted through on-screen controls.
The feature is described as limited to vehicles with AMD Ryzen infotainment hardware, matching the earlier Zoom capability Tesla introduced in 2022. Not a Tesla App says older Tesla vehicles using Intel-based infotainment processors will not be able to use the cabin camera as a webcam through the browser. The publication also noted that Tesla’s previous Zoom option effectively relied on a web platform, while the new change broadens similar functionality to other browser-supported services.
The development matters because it makes Tesla’s large central display and built-in cabin hardware more useful for communication without requiring platform-specific integrations. More broadly, it fits into Tesla’s ongoing expansion of in-vehicle software features; the same Summer Update reportedly includes Caraoke changes, Grok voice commands for some vehicle functions and new welcome animations for newer Model 3 and Model Y vehicles.
