Tentpole Xbox release Halo: Campaign Evolved performs better on the PlayStation 5, with the PS5 Pro providing the best experience - Eurogamer.net

What the report says
Eurogamer reports that Microsoft’s big-budget shooter Halo: Campaign Evolved has been tested across current consoles, with Digital Foundry finding the PlayStation 5 versions deliver the strongest overall console experience. The analysis covered Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5 and PS5 Pro, and concluded that the game generally performs well on every platform tested.
On Xbox Series S, Digital Foundry found visuals broadly comparable to Xbox Series X in some respects, helped by Unreal Engine 5 features including Lumen Reflections, though Eurogamer notes the internal resolution sits around 720p while maintaining steady performance. On Xbox Series X, the differences between the 60fps performance mode and 30fps quality mode were described as limited, with performance mode reducing elements such as foliage and shadow quality and producing a softer image. Eurogamer cites internal resolutions of 1224p in performance mode and 1440p in quality mode on Series X.
The main difference highlighted by Eurogamer is on PS5, where Digital Foundry found the presentation and image quality to be effectively in line with Xbox Series X across modes, but without the cutscene stutter seen on Xbox Series X and Series S. That absence reportedly makes the PS5 version feel more consistent.
Eurogamer says PS5 Pro provides the best tested console version, with PSSR producing a cleaner, sharper image and smoother image quality and frame rates than the base PS5. The article also notes a reported assault rifle bug affecting fire rate and accuracy on PlayStation, but says PlayStation players otherwise appear to receive the strongest version of this Halo release.
