Tenerife player in intensive care with injury

What the report says
Tenerife striker Jesus de Miguel is in intensive care but reported to be in a stable condition after a serious injury during a Spanish second-division match against Andorra, BBC Sport reports. The incident happened in stoppage time of Monday’s game at Tenerife’s Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez, when De Miguel collided with Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono as the keeper came out to clear a long ball.
According to Tenerife’s statement, the 30-year-old Madrid-born forward suffered injuries to his head and chest and was admitted to the University Hospital of Nuestra Senora de Candelaria. BBC Sport also noted that Spanish media, including Marca, reported De Miguel had a cardiac arrest in the ambulance and was resuscitated by paramedics on the way to hospital. Those details were attributed to other outlets rather than directly confirmed by Tenerife in the BBC report.
The match was level at 2-2 when the incident occurred, with seven minutes of stoppage time already played. Players from both sides were visibly shaken, and several of De Miguel’s teammates were in tears. The referee showed Owono a straight red card and abandoned the match. Andorra later sent a message of support for De Miguel, his family and Tenerife. The case has drawn attention because it highlights the risks of serious on-field collisions and the medical response required in football emergencies.
