Tejas Patel Remanded as Amended Charge Sheet Lists 15 Human Trafficking Counts

What the report says
Businessman and insurance broker Tejas Patel has been remanded to Luzira Prison after a Makindye court appearance in which prosecutors presented an amended charge sheet adding 15 counts of aggravated trafficking in persons. The case also names Yogesh Yadav, a manager at Green Lounge Kisugu, who was previously granted bail, while other suspects remain at large.
According to Nile Post, the amended document was sanctioned by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions through the Resident Chief State Attorney at Makindye. It is dated October 6, 2026, and cites sections of Uganda’s Prevention of Trafficking in Persons Act. Prosecutors allege that Patel, Yadav and others recruited, transported, harboured or received 15 people in Muyenga, Makindye Division, Kampala, between February and September 2026.
The charge sheet says the alleged movement of the individuals involved deception or payments linked to obtaining consent from someone controlling another person, with the stated purpose of prostitution or sexual exploitation. The accused are each tied to the same set of allegations, though the names of the 15 alleged victims were not published by the outlet.
Patel, described in the court papers as a Ugandan by registration of Indian origin, is due back in court on October 22, 2026. Yadav, identified as an Indian national, is also charged in the amended case. As in any criminal proceeding, the allegations are still subject to proof in court.
