Teen who singer D4vd is accused of killing had multiple abortions, texts reveal - BBC

What the report says
BBC News reported that prosecutors in Los Angeles presented text messages they say show 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez had been pregnant and had undergone abortions before her death, in a case against singer D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke. The evidence was introduced during a pre-trial hearing to decide whether Burke should face trial over the teen’s killing last year. He has pleaded not guilty to murder and sexual abuse charges.
According to the BBC, prosecutors said the messages between Burke and Celeste included discussions in January and June 2024 about pregnancy, abortion and whether Burke was the father. Prosecutors allege Burke began abusing Celeste when she was 13 and killed her after she threatened to expose the abuse and damage his career. The court also heard testimony that iCloud data recovered from Burke’s iPhone included communications dating to August 2022, when Celeste was 11 and Burke was 17, as well as images prosecutors described as connected to alleged sexual abuse.
The BBC reported that a medical examiner testified it was very difficult to determine exactly when Celeste died because of the condition of her remains. Defence lawyers questioned that uncertainty, while a police detective testified that blood found at Burke’s Hollywood Hills home and garage matched Celeste’s DNA. Her remains were found in the front boot of Burke’s Tesla in September 2025, a day after she would have turned 15.
Burke, known for viral songs including “Romantic Homicide” and “Here With Me,” was arrested in April, the BBC reported. Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman has filed seven charges, including murder, continuous sexual abuse of a child and mutilation of remains. Testimony was expected to continue Monday.
