TECNO takes its smartphone strategy into the PC market

TECNO used the IFA ShowStoppers 2026 event in Berlin on Sept. 3 to signal a broader shift beyond smartphones, unveiling its first convertible touchscreen laptop line and several other devices. According to The Independent Uganda, the company is trying to position itself as a personal technology brand spanning work, study and communication devices, not only mobile phones. The move comes as TECNO seeks to apply the same mix of design, features and competitive pricing that helped it gain ground in emerging smartphone markets.

The main launch was the MEGABOOK T15 360 series, a new laptop range with a 360-degree hinge and touchscreen support. The devices can be used in laptop, tablet, tent or stand modes, and the higher-end version includes a 2.5K, 120Hz display. TECNO said the range is planned for Europe in the fourth quarter of 2026, with prices starting at €899 and rising to €1,099 for the Pro model. The company also showed the MEGABOOK K15S WCL, aimed at students and young professionals, and the larger MEGABOOK T17 Ultra for users wanting more performance and screen size.

The article said the strategy is important because laptops are a tougher market than smartphones, where brand loyalty and expectations around reliability and support are stronger. TECNO is also pushing its OneLeap ecosystem, which links smartphones, tablets and PCs, as part of an effort to keep customers inside its product family. In addition to the computers, TECNO previewed a borderless concept phone, a limited-edition POVA 8 Pro 5G model, and the CAMON Slim 5G, highlighting its wider push into design-led and connected devices.
