Tayebwa: President Museveni Allocated Land for Industrial Parks in Ankole

Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa said President Yoweri Museveni has allocated land for two industrial parks and one industrial hub in Uganda’s Ankole sub-region, according to Watchdog Uganda. The projects are planned for Kyeizoba in Bushenyi District, and for Ruhengyere and Nakivale in Isingiro District. Tayebwa made the remarks on Tuesday while representing Museveni at the burial of the late Mrs Edna Kentaro Baryaruha in Bushenyi District.

The report says Bushenyi District has already provided 70 acres for the industrial hub in Kyeizoba, while Museveni has set aside five square miles each for the two industrial parks. Tayebwa said the Ruhengyere site would focus on processing foodstuffs, and said the land allocations were documented in writing.

Watchdog Uganda reported that the plan builds on Museveni’s earlier campaign pledge to establish an industrial park in Ankole as part of efforts to promote value addition, create jobs and support economic growth. Tayebwa said the projects could generate thousands of jobs for young graduates and wider business opportunities for transporters, suppliers and service providers.
