What the report says

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has carried out a regional leadership reshuffle affecting several parts of Tanzania, according to a statement cited by Daily News through the Directorate of Presidential Communications. The changes include four new Regional Commissioners and six transfers, with the new appointments touching Mwanza, Geita, Coast and Mbeya regions.

Among the officials named, Commissioner of Police Salum Hamduni was appointed Mwanza Regional Commissioner after previously serving as Shinyanga Regional Administrative Secretary. Alexander Mnyeti was named Geita Regional Commissioner, Stanslaus Nyongo was appointed Coast Regional Commissioner, and Jumanne Sagini was assigned to Mbeya. The reshuffle also moved Martine Shigela, Said Mtanda, Abubakar Kunenge, Beno Malisa, Adam Malima and Queen Sendiga to different regions.

The statement said some of the changes follow vacancies created by retirement or other appointments. Mtanda takes over in Simiyu after Anamringi Macha retired, Kunenge replaces Jabiri Makame, Malisa fills a post opened when Paul Chacha moved to a CCM party role, and Malima succeeds Zainab Telack, who retired. These kinds of administrative rotations are common in Tanzania’s regional governance system, where Regional Commissioners and Regional Administrative Secretaries play key roles in overseeing local state administration.

The statement also listed several Regional Administrative Secretary changes, including new postings for Coast, Mbeya, Mwanza, Shinyanga and Singida. The swearing-in date for the newly appointed officials has not yet been announced.
