USA Today reports that Taco Bell is running another one-day, lettuce-free discount, offering its Mexican Pizza for $1 at participating restaurants on July 28. The deal is available in stores and through the Taco Bell app through 11:59 p.m. PT, with a limit of one Mexican Pizza per order. The item, which includes beef, beans, tortillas, sauce, cheese and tomatoes, typically costs several dollars more depending on the market.

The promotion follows a July 22 offer for $1 Enchiritos and comes as Taco Bell faces customer concern tied to a wider cyclosporiasis outbreak. USA Today notes that Taco Bell’s social media announcement did not directly connect the discounts to the outbreak, but the chain has recently seen reduced traffic after lettuce used by the company was linked to the illness.

Citing Placer.ai data, USA Today previously reported that nationwide visits to Taco Bell locations were down more than 30% compared with the chain’s average Friday traffic from Jan. 1 to July 6. Taco Bell said it removed affected Taylor Farms lettuce from restaurants and its supply chain after the FDA connected that lettuce to the outbreak, describing the action as voluntary and precautionary.

According to CDC information cited by USA Today, the cyclosporiasis outbreak had been linked to nine states as of July 24, with cases reported more broadly across the country. The agency listed more than 11,500 reports for the season, including 4,173 confirmed infections, while thousands of additional reports remained under review.
