Swans sign Canada midfielder Eustaquio from Porto

Swansea City have completed the signing of Canada international midfielder Stephen Eustaquio from Porto for an undisclosed fee that is understood to be about £3.4m, according to BBC Sport Football. The 29-year-old has agreed a two-year contract with an option for a further 12 months at the Championship club.

BBC Sport said the move is seen as a notable acquisition for Swansea because of Eustaquio’s experience at both club and international level. Swansea head coach Vitor Matos described him as an experienced leader with strong technical ability and game understanding, and said he should add to the club’s midfield options. Eustaquio is expected to bring leadership on and off the pitch.

At international level, Eustaquio is a regular Canada vice-captain and has 61 caps. He played a prominent role in Canada’s run to the knockout stages at the 2026 World Cup, including scoring a late winner in the last-32 victory over South Africa. He also represented Canada at the 2022 World Cup.

Eustaquio has been at Porto since 2022 and won several trophies there, including league titles, while also gaining Champions League, Europa League and Club World Cup experience. Swansea have been active in the market this summer and are still reported to be seeking further defensive reinforcement before the transfer deadline.
