Suspect Held Over Murder of 26-Year-Old Man in Rubanda

What the report says
Police in Rubanda District are investigating the killing of Elijah Ahimbisibwe, a 26-year-old man from Mukivunga Village in Bishakye Ward, Katojo Town Council. According to the report published by Nile Post, his body was discovered in the middle of a road in Katojo Town Council on the morning of September 27, after he had reportedly left home the previous day for a burial in nearby Kifumba Village.
Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson Nelson Tumushime said one suspect has been arrested to help with inquiries. The article says investigators are treating the death as a murder case and that the body was found about 350 metres from the deceased’s home.
The report also notes that Ahimbisibwe had reportedly been involved in disagreements with relatives over land issues, though police did not give further detail on a possible motive. That background suggests the case may be linked to a broader family or property dispute, but the published account does not say police have confirmed any cause of death or formal charges.
Tumushime urged members of the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands and to allow the justice system to handle such disputes. The case adds to continuing concern about violent deaths and land-related tensions in parts of western Uganda.
