Supersport secures Pamoja 2027 rights

What the report says
SuperSport will carry coverage of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) PAMOJA 2027 qualifiers and finals after an agreement involving CANAL+ and the Confederation of African Football, according to The Observer. The deal means Ugandan fans will be able to follow the Cranes’ road to a home tournament as Uganda prepares to co-host the event with Kenya and Tanzania.
The article says the 2027 AFCON will run from June 19 to July 17, 2027, and will be the first time the continental championship is hosted by three countries together. It will also mark the first time Uganda hosts Africa’s top national teams as an AFCON co-host, and the competition is set to return to East Africa for the first time since Ethiopia hosted in 1976.
Uganda is among 48 countries drawn into 12 groups of four for the qualifying campaign, with six match days deciding places at the expanded 24-team finals. The first two matchdays run through October 6, while later fixtures are scheduled for November 2026 and March 2027.
The Observer also noted broader broadcast access across Sub-Saharan Africa, including French-language coverage in more than 20 countries and entry-level packages intended to widen viewership. The agreement matters because it gives supporters a clear path to follow qualification and then the finals as preparations build for a major regional sporting event.
