What the report says

Yahoo Finance, citing Investing.com, reported that Super Micro Computer shares rose sharply after the AI server and infrastructure company issued preliminary fourth-quarter figures showing much stronger profitability than previously guided. The report said the stock climbed about 20% in after-hours trading Tuesday and was up roughly 15% in Wednesday pre-market activity after the update, though some gains faded as analysts highlighted lingering risks.

For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Supermicro estimated GAAP and non-GAAP gross margins of 15% to 17%, far above its prior forecast of 8.2% to 8.4%. The company attributed the improvement to a more favorable mix of products and customers. Revenue, however, was expected to come in near the low end of the company’s $11.0 billion to $12.5 billion guidance range, making margin strength and future demand the main focus for investors.

The report said Supermicro also disclosed a record backlog at the end of fiscal 2026 and $60 billion in new orders during the fourth quarter, suggesting a large delivery pipeline over coming quarters. Analysts quoted in the article urged caution: Wolfe Research’s George Notter pointed to unresolved governance and regulatory concerns and noted that margins can swing with customer mix, while Raymond James’ Simon Leopold flagged investor worries over potential NVIDIA allocation changes, even as Supermicro said its allocation had not changed.

Supermicro is expected to release full fourth-quarter and fiscal 2026 results on August 11 at 5:00 p.m. EDT. The update matters because the company is closely watched as a supplier tied to AI infrastructure demand, where profitability, order visibility and component access can significantly influence investor sentiment.
