Super Supreme Mufti Calls on Kassanda Residents to Embrace Cleanliness

Sheikh Muhammad Galabuzi, Uganda’s Super Supreme Mufti, urged people in Kassanda District to treat cleanliness as a daily duty, not an occasional activity linked to official campaigns. He made the appeal while joining residents and local leaders in a community cleaning exercise under the government’s Bulungi bwansi programme, according to Nile Post.

The exercise brought together residents from different parts of Kassanda, along with Kassanda South MP Hajji Abdul Bisaso and district LCV chairperson Drake Ssembuusi. It began at Kiganda Health Centre IV, where Galabuzi was later taken to assess the facility and hear about some of its difficulties. The health centre’s leadership said the visit gave them a chance to explain the challenges they face.

Galabuzi told residents that cleanliness should start at home and spread through the wider community, arguing that cleaner surroundings support healthier communities. Local leaders echoed the message and praised the large turnout, describing Bulungi bwansi as a useful way to encourage shared responsibility for community upkeep and development.

The visit also highlighted the role of religious and civic leaders in public health and local mobilisation. In Uganda, Bulungi bwansi is generally used for communal work such as cleaning public spaces, and the Kassanda event reflected broader efforts to promote sanitation and community participation.
