Sunderland sign Ahoka from Royal Antwerp

What the report says
Sunderland have completed the signing of midfielder Jules Ahoka from Belgian club Royal Antwerp in a deal worth 10m euros (£8.6m), according to BBC Sport Football. The 20-year-old DR Congo youth international has agreed a long-term contract with the Premier League side, adding another young option to the squad early in the transfer window.
BBC Sport reports that Ahoka had featured in both of Antwerp’s league matches so far this season before moving to England. In comments carried by the broadcaster, the player said he was proud to join Sunderland, describing the club as ambitious and saying he was eager to work hard, learn from teammates and staff, and keep developing. Sunderland director of football Florent Ghisolfi said the club had tracked him closely and believed he had strong potential for his age.
The transfer makes Ahoka Sunderland’s third summer signing, following Belgian left-back Thomas Meunier and French right-back Dayann Methalie. The move comes as Sunderland look to settle into their Premier League campaign after a 2-1 defeat by Ipswich in their opening match. Their next fixture is against Fulham on Sunday. In general terms, the signing fits the common pattern of clubs investing in promising young talent to strengthen depth and long-term development.
